"These . . . confessed that they were
strangers and pilgrims on the earth."

Hebrews 11:13

A few words on the ESV

You all probably know the ESV is nothing but the RSV “updated.” The RSV was translated by unfaithful men, from the corrupted Alexandrian textual family, the heart of which is one New Testament manuscript which came from a RC monastery in the Sinai Desert and the other in the Vatican library. Otherwise included are just 49 partial manuscripts, also from the same corrupted textual family which the faithful early church rejected as did the Reformers from Luther to the translators of the Geneva Bible, and in fact, all of the Reformation Bible translators, including Tyndale and finally the KJV translators.

There is something wrong also when ministers must get permission to quote from a “Bible” in a sermon or Christian authors of books on doctrine—that is, get permission if more than a certain number of Scripture texts are used.

Another thing about the ESV: lately, the folks who hold the copyright came out with a statement that they are remaining open to textual changes as more information on the original texts are found. In other words, they belong to that school of higher criticism which denies the verbal and plenary preservation of the word of God, and that without error in the original manuscripts. Rather, they insist we are “rediscovering” and “reconstructing” the original text, though we may never have all of the original.

May God open the eyes of many to the essential, vital nature of this most fundamental translation issue.
