It is becoming increasingly
clear to all but those blinded with bigotry that there is a certain
segment of society which hates Christians who publicly stand for biblical
truth. We at PCC are reminded of this day in and day out. There are also
certain areas of the country where public officials are brazen in their
biased treatment of Christians who publicly air their religious beliefs.
One such area is Dane County, Wisconsin. Consider these few recent
examples of many which we could give to document the anti-Christian
climate in that county surrounding the city of Madison:
Last week, Mike Foht
was physically assaulted in Windsor, Wisconsin. As Mike was lit dropping
the PCC flyer Homosexuality:
The Truth, he was confronted by a Windsor town councilman.
The man spewed obscenities at Mike, telling him to take his hate and go.
Not content with that, the elected official grabbed Mike, shoved him
around, ripped his shirt, and stole his literature. Dane County sheriff's
deputies who arrived on the scene, after viewing a video tape of the
incident, issued Mike's assailant a municipal ticket instead of the
criminal charges warranted by such actions.
Several weeks ago, the
owner of the Shoe Box store in Black Earth, Wisconsin, turned a sprinkler
system on a group of Christians led by Pastor Ralph Ovadal who were doing
gospel ministry on public property in Black Earth. Dane County sheriff's
deputies who arrived on the scene refused to tell the man to shut off the
system, which was clearly set up on public property.
The mayor of Madison has
proposed a law banning all picketing and signs of any kind, including for
charitable organizations, on pedestrian overpasses over streets, highways,
bike paths, or railway right-of-ways. This comes in response to a recent
court setback for Madison in a lawsuit which Pastor Ovadal has brought
against the city for allowing others, such as war protesters and John
Kerry supporters, to display signs on such overpasses but banning PCC from
showing biblical messages about homosexuality. Apparently, the city is
prepared to ban a wide range of free speech rather than allow a biblical
message on homosexuality to be shown. By contrast, such overpass pickets
regularly take place unmolested by police in such cities as Milwaukee.
Dane County features the
only tax-funded nude beach in Wisconsin. The beach exists because the Dane
County D.A. refuses to issue charges against the nudists. The Dane County
D.A. has also refused to issue any charges against the clothed
"naturists" who have assaulted PCC Christians preaching and
picketing on the parking lot of the unlawful Mazo nude beach—this in
spite of the fact that many of those assaults have been captured on video
camera. For instance, this past July, a woman destroyed a PCC sign bearing
a Bible verse and poured a can of pop over a PCC video camera. Although
her actions were caught on camera, no charges have been issued. By
contrast, in 2001, Pastor Ralph Ovadal was fined $1,000 for preaching
a biblical message to a lewd-acting naturist woman! During the trial, the
Dane County D.A. stated that warning a person of hell constitutes a
threat.
Several years ago, in
response to a billboard campaign PCC ran which featured a biblical message
about homosexuality, both the City of Madison council and Dane County
Executive Kathleen Falk issued statements condemning the campaign. Several
years before that, as he was handing out biblical literature on a public
sidewalk, Pastor Ovadal was attacked from behind by a homosexual and
knocked unconscious. Pastor Ovadal's assailant was given a small municipal
ticket by the Dane County D.A. because "he didn't want a criminal
record." In 1996, 400 homosexuals rioted on the property of a Madison
church where Pastor Ovadal was speaking. The rioters included at least one
off-duty Madison police officer, a woman. No charges were issued to the
rioters.
But we are beginning to
ramble. Rather than list more examples of Dane County's blatant bias
against Christian liberty, we leave you with a picture, which is worth a
thousand words.
Among our other public
ministry activities, PCC maintains a presence at several Planned
Parenthood clinics, including PP's abortion clinic in Madison. Here we
have included a picture of a sign posted on September 16, 2005, by the
grown daughter of unborn-child-killer Dennis Christiansen in response to
the ministry efforts of PCC's Mike Foht.
