| On
May 2, the Finance and Personnel Committee of the City of Milwaukee Common
Council decided to include benefits for the "partners" of
homosexual city workers in a contract with the city's largest labor union.
Due to citizen outcry against that measure, on May 8, the full Common
Council rejected it! However, council members will reconsider the matter
in three weeks. Homosexual activists are now working
feverishly to pressure council members who voted against the measure to
change their vote on May 29. Persons opposed to this immoral, wasteful
measure must make their voices heard now!
The jury is out with regard to how much this
proposal could ultimately cost the taxpayers of Milwaukee. Persons
involved in sodomy and other homosexual acts have been proven to have a
much lower life expectancy and much higher health care costs;* so
eventually, it could end up being a relatively expensive proposition,
especially with the specter of fresh outbreaks of AIDS looming on the
horizon.
The jury is not out on the morality of granting
health, dental, funeral, and other benefits to persons solely on the basis
that they engage in homosexual sex with a city employee. Most citizens of
Wisconsin rightfully view homosexual acts as being immoral. The Bible
calls homosexual acts an "abomination" (Leviticus 18:22);
"against nature" (Romans 1:26); "unrighteous" (1
Corinthians 6:9-11); "lawless, ungodly, unholy, profane" (1
Timothy 1:8-10); "filthy" (2 Peter 2:7); and "strange"
(Jude 7).
Until 1982, Wisconsin outlawed homosexual acts,
and many states still outlaw them. In fact, recently the courts in
Virginia upheld that state's ban on sodomy. Once every state in the Union
outlawed homosexual acts as being a violation of the Laws of Nature and of
Nature's God upon which this nation was founded and by which it was meant
to be forever governed (see Declaration of Independence). In 1987, the
U.S. Supreme Court upheld anti-sodomy laws (Bowers v. Hardwick).
In light of
all of this, why should the taxpayers of Milwaukee be forced to provide
benefits to individuals who engage in homosexual acts and do not even work
for the City?
In this age of increasing violence, family
breakdown, and cultural disintegration, Wisconsin Christians United
believes that government should be looking for ways to encourage morality,
stability, and family rather than implementing schemes which take money
from taxpayers and use it to reward immoral behavior.
If you feel the same, now is the time to tell
your city councilman in no uncertain terms (see below). You can rest
assured that those who promote the homosexual agenda are doing everything
that they can to ensure that you will soon work part of each day to pay
for sexual perversion. And remember, there is nothing kind about
encouraging individuals to commit acts which can literally kill them and
others.

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:
for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against
nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman,
burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which
is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error
which was meet."
