On
December 8, 2003, the homosexual political organization Action Wisconsin
sent a press release far and wide in which they claimed that a speaker at
WCU's October 10, 2003 International
Conference on Homo-Fascism advocated the murder of homosexual people!
To substantiate this horrific allegation stated as fact, Action Wisconsin
provided a quote from Pastor Grant Storms, one of the speakers at the WCU
conference. The truth of the matter is that Pastor Storms was preaching
from 1 Samuel 14 and drawing lessons from that passage. Pastor Storms, an
animated preacher who pastors a church in New Orleans, was stressing how
important it is for Christians to trust in God and not be afraid even if
we seem to be overwhelmed and out-numbered by our opposition in the
current struggles over matters of law, liberty, and morality. Below you
will find in bold italics the quote Action Wisconsin took out of context.
Unlike Action Wisconsin, we have provided what Pastor Storms said just
prior to and just after the quote they are using in their attempt to make
WCU appear to be a bunch of would-be murderers.
"'And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and
his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his
armourbearer slew after him. And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and
his armourbearer made, was about twenty men' [1 Samuel 14:13-14]. Come on;
let's go! God has delivered them into out hands. Hallelujah-Boom, boom,
boom, boom, boom-There's twenty! Ca-ching. Glory, glory to God. Let's go
drive through the McDonald's and come back and get the rest. They had
a willingness to fight. I'm going to tell you why pastors don't get out on
the frontlines, Brother Ralph, why pastors don't get out there on the
frontlines, and why they're not involved in fighting the abortion and
homosexual issue and so forth. They don't have a willingness to fight.
They don't want to fight. You gotta have a willingness to fight. You gotta
have a willingness to fight. You gotta want to get in there and scrap for
God. I mean scrap with the devil for God."
As a footnote, the reader should know that each time Pastor Storms
said "boom" in the comments above, he made the motion of waving
a sword, not shooting a gun.
"Action Wisconsin has admitted in writing that they listened to
Pastor Storms's message, thanks to a CD copy of it they obtained from WCU.
Now they can explain in court why they attempted to smear a Christian
pastor's reputation in writing to the whole world by presenting him as a
violent man 'who made sounds like gunfire as if he were shooting gay
people' and was 'advocating the murder' of homosexuals. WCU has secured an
attorney to file a civil lawsuit on behalf of Pastor Grant Storms. We are
not going to tolerate such outright, vicious lies against a minister of
the gospel. We are going to press this legal matter with vigor and, by the
grace of God, will see a victory won for all Christians who have been
similarly demonized by Sodom's propagandists."
