Sandy
Rios, President of Concerned Women for America, today called on
Rep.
Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) to pull out of participating at a
homosexual conference in Milwaukee
featuring such seminars as “Drag 101” for youth, several advocating
sadomasochism, “polyamory” (multiple sex partner “relationships”),
and a discussion that will include a look at laws regulating
“intergenerational sex” (pedophilia).
Some 2,000 homosexual activists are expected to attend
the four-day “Creating Change” event, sponsored by the National Gay
and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF). Rep. Baldwin, an open lesbian, is
scheduled to address a plenary session Friday morning entitled, “How Can
Our Movement Be More Powerful.”
Rios said Rep. Baldwin’s appearance “would be like Congressman
Gary Condit speaking at a conference with workshops on ‘How
to Cheat on Your Wife,’ or ‘Managing Multiple Affairs.’
“Sadly, we don’t expect moral purity from our
elected officeholders, but neither should we accept moral perversion,”
she said. “If President Bush cannot appear at Bob
Jones University without being called a Catholic-basher and a
racist by association, then how can a Congresswoman endorse an event like
this without the same conclusion being drawn?
Of particular concern, Rios said, is a “Creating
Change” session—led by a sadomasochism activist—entitled “Your
Eyes Say Yes But the Law Says No.”
A description of the workshop in the conference program reads in part:
… This workshop, using audience volunteers and
role-playing, will analyze the laws regulating conduct such as queer sex,
BDSM [Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism], rape, intergenerational
sex, marital and extra-marital sex.
Rios noted that “intergenerational sex” is a
homosexual activist “code word used by NAMBLA [North American Man/Boy
Love Association]—a group that openly advocates for sex between men and
boys.
“No member of Congress should appear at a conference
in which sexual radicals are describing the seduction of children using
the favored euphemism of NAMBLA,” Rios said. “By endorsing this event,
Rep. Baldwin is bringing dishonor to the entire U.S.
Congress, and giving aid and comfort to those who put children
in danger. She should apologize and pull out.”
Concerned
Women for America is the nation’s largest public policy women’s
organization. Wisconsin
Christians United
(WCU) is planning a series of events Friday and Saturday to protest the
conference. CFI
senior policy analyst Peter LaBarbera will join Wisconsin Christians
United director Ralph Ovadal at a WCU press conference 10:00 a.m. Friday
morning outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where the “Creating Change”
conference is being held. Later that evening, LaBarbera and Ovadal will
speak at a WCU-sponsored rally to expose the Task Force’s extremism.
