WCU to Governor and State
Legislators:
“Keep your oath; govern according to God’s law!” |
Today
is Inauguration Day at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison.
Governor-Elect Jim Doyle, all state representatives, and half of
Wisconsin’s state senators will take part in inauguration ceremonies.
The governor’s swearing-in ceremony will begin at 12:00 P.M. with the
legislators’ ceremony beginning at 2:00 P.M. Beginning at 11:00 A.M.,
WCU Christians will be in place, lining the long walks leading up to the
four main doors to the capitol. We will be holding a series of signs
dealing with the God-given responsibilities of civil authorities and also
highlighting several key issues. For instance, we will have signs urging
the governor and legislators to resist pro-homosexual legislation, defund
Planned Parenthood, and stop the killing of preborn Wisconsin citizens. We
will also have gospel banners by the capitol doors held by individuals
preaching the gospel to attendees of the inauguration ceremony. In
addition, a special flyer, complete with a gospel message, will be handed
to those traversing the long walk up to the capitol to attend the
festivities (see below). Last, but not least, we will be holding pictures
and banners featuring full-color evidence that abortion is not a choice or
simply a political issue; it is the cold-blooded murder of innocent
preborn human beings.
“Today, as the Church of Jesus Christ, we are doing our job by
lifting up the law of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ in the presence
of our civil authorities. We will be reminding our state officials that
they are taking an oath in God’s name to uphold our state and national
constitutions which in turn are predicated on God’s dictated and
revealed law. Our message will be simple, biblical, and direct. I pray
that it will pierce the hearts of many of those who have the rule over us;
but either way, it is our joyous duty ‘teaching them to observe all
things’ commanded by the author of all power, Jesus Christ (Matthew
28:18-20).”
