Lit Drop
Summary
Towns partially or completely lit
dropped with various WCU brochures during the time covered by this update
include: Madison, Sauk City, Reedsburg, Portage, Middleton, Cambridge,
Maple Bluff, Oregon, Stoughton, Waukesha, and Monroe. Thanks to a local
man with a heart for God and a willingness to work, the residents of New
Auburn, Colfax, and Sand Creek received a packet of truth on their door
July 8. The packet included a very well-written letter by our Christian
brother and also the brochure "A Little Discrimination Can Be A Good
Thing." Back

Children being taken to the
tax-funded nude
beach! |
Mazo Beach Hit Hard
On July 15, by both land and water, WCU
laid siege to the nude beach at Mazomanie. From 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.,
every person headed for that tax-funded open-air bathhouse on the
Wisconsin River was confronted, rebuked, and evangelized by Christians who
had split into five different groups and taken up stations on the road
leading to the beach parking lot, on the lot itself, and on the road from
the parking lot leading to the beach. The Christians also held large signs
and banners proclaiming Biblical truth and handed out salvation tracts to
beachgoers and police officers alike. This tactic drove police officials
to distraction as they attempted to be everywhere at once.

Blocking the road to protect children.
|
Late in the morning, all the teams
consolidated near the beach for a period of prayer. It was at this time
that a nudist couple with a small child on the way to the beach attempted
to walk past the congregation of saints who immediately formed a human
wall across the road and began to chant, "Shame! Shame! . . .”

After a highly charged stand-off, police
on the scene removed the child from the area! The scene was repeated two
more times. Each time, after a tense period, police officials removed the
children completely from the property and no Christians were arrested,
although one was physically assaulted by a half-crazed nudist.

Water-born evangelists on their
way to preach to the
perverts
from the middle of the river.
|
To add to the discomfort of the wicked
and consternation of the police, WCU also anchored a boat filled with
evangelists in the river near the beach, close enough that their amplified
preaching was easily heard but far enough away to avoid having to look at
the nudity displayed on the beach. In spite of attempts by a number of
angry water-born voyeurs to sink their boat, WCU's sturdy naval force held
its ground and preached up a storm for quite some time before retiring
from the contest. Due to the strong presence and witness of Christians at
the beach on July 15, a very large contingent of police officers from four
different departments were on hand. Many of these officers were on
overtime pay. Amazingly, several state troopers were dressed in riot gear!
All officers, especially those who were obviously "pro-nudity,"
heard an abundance of hard-core gospel preaching and even expositions on
the purpose of civil government and law. When the cost of protecting
perversion at Mazo beach is tallied this year, someone is going to have a
lot of explaining to do! Back to top.
Back to
Mazo
On August 19, WCU hit Mazo beach again.
This action came only eight days after a Madison judge found Pastor Ralph
Ovadal guilty on a disorderly conduct charge, in part because he used such
words as sinners, homosexual, and pedophile when
preaching at Mazo beach last August 28, 1999. On this day, over 125
Christians with WCU spread out at about six-foot intervals on both sides
of the gravel road leading to the beach, with an even number of quite
vocal Christians on both sides. Nudists arriving at the beach were met by
roving bands of evangelists in the parking lot; then were forced to walk
the "gospel gauntlet"; and after clearing that, contend with a
group of evangelists fifty yards down the road. Although police officers
on the scene warned Pastor Ovadal and the brethren on hand not to use such
words as sinners and homosexuals when preaching, all
God's people boldly obeyed Him, not man. In spite of repeated threats, no
arrests were made; no children were seen being brought to the beach; and
at least one man repented of his sin, took a gospel tract, and left! By
the grace of God, this event also received some very good press coverage. Back

Can't we
all just get along?
On August 21, Pastor Ovadal met with
three DNR officials and three Dane County Sheriff's officers. At the
meeting, which had been requested by the departments represented, Pastor
Ovadal was informed that WCU's efforts at Mazo beach were becoming costly
and burdensome to all the law enforcement departments involved. A
sheriff's department captain revealed that her department had decided to
set up a special area near the beach within which WCU would be required to
do our "protesting." Pastor Ovadal informed her that such a
tactic was discrimination against one group of people based on the content
of their speech and that WCU will not abide by any such order. The
officials present also requested that Pastor Ovadal notify law enforcement
officials prior to any future WCU events at Mazo beach. That request was
also turned down. However, Pastor Ovadal did inform the officers that,
unless the nudity is brought to an end, next year WCU will be organizing
eight teams with each team committing to be present at Mazo beach two
weekends during the beach season. He further informed them that the teams
will come at different times and that the events will take place sometimes
on Sundays, sometimes on Saturdays. The officials present seemed quite
crestfallen at the revelation!
During the meeting, Pastor Ovadal showed
the officers pictures of children being taken to the beach and also did a
bit of preaching to those present. A rather vigorous debate on nudity and
the law took place which ended with one sheriff's deputy quietly assenting
that Pastor Ovadal was correct in his position! Back

Preaching the forbidden words in front of Judge
Ebert's courthouse
in Madison.
|
Sentencing
Hearing
In late July, Judge Steven Ebert finally
issued a verdict in the case of State of Wisconsin v. Ralph Ovadal.
The judge found Pastor Ovadal guilty of disorderly conduct for leading a
group of men who blocked the gravel road leading to the Mazo nude beach on
August 28, 1999. In his written decision, the judge also stated that
Pastor was guilty of disorderly conduct because, during the incident in
question, he preached using such words as sinners, homosexuals,
and pedophiles.

Several days before the August 11th
sentencing hearing, WCU announced that Pastor Ovadal would be preaching on
the steps of Ebert's courthouse for forty-five minutes prior to the
hearing and that he would be using all the forbidden words. That morning,
Pastor was joined by several other street evangelists as he preached the
whole counsel of God over a bullhorn. The press gave the event outside the
courthouse very good coverage and did the same with the sentencing hearing
itself. During that hearing, Judge Ebert sat mute as Pastor Ovadal
delivered a message rebuking the judge and defending our Christian liberty
and commission to preach the gospel. That night, one television channel
made the hearing its top story and included a segment showing Pastor
Ovadal telling Ebert that he had spit upon the gospel and the Church of
Jesus Christ. Miraculously, the feature also showed Pastor rebuking Ebert
for ruling that it is disorderly conduct to use the word sinners
when street preaching. "That is the heart of the gospel; all men are
sinners in need of redemption through Jesus Christ," Pastor Ovadal
told the judge, going on to say, "You are a sinner, Judge; you need
Christ!"
One thing which was readily apparent
throughout the hearing was that God very mercifully allowed much truth to
not only be announced in the court room but also later through the media! Back

More Naked
Lies from the DNR
During the week of August 21, State
Representative DuWayne Johnsrud revealed through a very well-worded,
hard-hitting press release that his office had learned that the Department
of Natural Resources was maintaining a toll-free Mazo beach hotline for
nudists around the nation! Over the years, hunters and fishermen have
asked for such a hotline to update them on conditions on public hunting
and fishing areas, but their requests have been turned down as being too
expensive. During the furor which erupted over Johnsrud's revelation, WCU
director Ralph Ovadal was able to do quite a number of press interviews;
and in turn, more truth was revealed about the political cabal determined
to keep a tax-funded nude beach open in our state. When the hotline story
broke, the DNR officials did what apparently comes natural in their
defense of the unnatural--they lied, saying that the hotline was set up to
take complaints about Mazo beach. Although the hotline was quickly
disconnected, WCU had already taped it. Pastor Ovadal then played it on
his radio program "The Heart of the Matter," allowing listeners
to hear a DNR woman reciting opening and closing hours of the beach,
telling handicapped beachgoers how to get a special permit allowing them
to drive right up to the beach, and finally reassuring callers that nudity
is "legal" on the beach. Back

A Final
Note from Pastor Ovadal on Mazo Beach:
The saints are winning!
In the last one and one-half years, WCU
has blocked the road to the Mazo beach four times, once for eight hours.
Meanwhile, the State of Wisconsin and the County of Dane have expended
large amounts of resources and manpower because of our ministry
activities. As I pointed out in my letter, these activities have borne
great fruit in many ways. We have come out of all of these battles with
only one disorderly conduct conviction that cost the state much
financially to pursue, but also with a flood of publicity for WCU and with
other opportunities for us to expound God's truth publicly. Simply put,
the enemy may still hold the hill, but they have paid very dearly for that
privilege while we have suffered almost no casualties and have experienced
great blessings. Yes, the perverts and their government pals may claim
victories in that I was found guilty of disorderly conduct and that the
beach is still open, but surely a few more such victories will ruin them! Back

Evidence?
What does that have to do with anything?
On Thursday, September 7, Missionary
Mike Foht was found guilty of disorderly conduct for quietly sharing the
gospel with a little girl and her adult sodomite companions at this year's
Milwaukee Pridefest Parade. Although video tape evidence clearly showed
that Mike was standing on a public sidewalk during a public event, quietly
sharing the gospel with the group, although none of the witnesses against
him showed up in court except the arresting officer whom the video tape
clearly proved to be a perjurer, Brother Mike was found guilty. Mike is
appealing the verdict. This sort of judicial tyranny simply proves that
our legal system is firmly in the hands of God-haters and that the Church
of Jesus Christ had better wake up to that fact before it is too late. On
the bright side, Mike did share the gospel with a little girl in the care
of a man wearing a dress. Pray that the words which Mike planted in that
precious heart will someday lead her to faith in Jesus Christ. Back

Now is the
time!
The election season is in full swing.
Now is the time to write and/or call incumbents and challengers in your
district to let them know that you will not vote for anyone who supports
any pro-homosexual legislation. This legislative session, Representative
Mark Pocan will once more attempt to create support for the introduction
of bills which would legalize "same-sex marriage," mandate
insurance coverage for the "partners" of sodomite state workers,
and allow for the adoption of children by sodomite couples. Pre-emptive
action is very important. Once legislators commit to a course, it is
sometimes very hard to get them to change. Tell candidates and incumbents
to not even think about supporting any bill which advances the homosexual
agenda in any way, no matter how small.
It is also good to press the candidates
as to exactly where they stand on homosexuality and to send them several
key WCU brochures such as "A Little Discrimination Can Be a Good
Thing" and "Homosexuality: The Truth." Back
