New Wisconsin Christians United
billboard goes up in four cities.

August 1: Eight WCU billboards went up in Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Eau Claire. The billboards have sparked much discussion, and WCU director Ralph Ovadal has done a number of very worthwhile media interviews as a consequence. One irate "Christian" woman called WCU to tell how outraged people in her liberal Lutheran church were to have to look at the WCU billboard every Sunday. The billboard is across the street from their church!

August 2-3: Lit drop of Mazomanie, Arena, part of Sauk City, and the rural areas in between. The flyer dropped included more information about the dangerous sexual perverts being drawn to Wisconsin by the nude beach at Mazomanie and also urged local people to tune in to a Christian network station for a special live three-hour program from location in Mazomanie.

August 4: Three-hour live radio broadcast from Mazomanie. The program, which was co-hosted by Ralph Ovadal, featured interviews with several state legislators along with such compelling guests as internationally renowned child advocate Dr. Judith Reisman and Americans for Truth President Peter LaBarbera. Perhaps even more compelling were the live testimonies from a stream of local residents who stopped by the mobile studio to share heartbreaking stories of being forced to live in the nude beach area. One mother shared that she keeps her windows and doors locked twenty-four hours a day out of fear for her children's safety in light of the unsavory, lewd characters haunting the beach area. In an especially poignant moment, another pleaded with listeners for help in shutting down the beach. In addition to building momentum and opinion against the beach and giving local residents an opportunity to voice their fears and a chance to plead for help, the broadcast became a vehicle to share the gospel with the many unsaved people who tuned in as a result of the prior WCU literature drop announcing the program. The broadcast was a prime example of how separate ministries standing on the same unchanging Biblical absolutes can come together in special ways for the cause of Christ.

August 7: WCU's Pridefest outreach was characterized by street preaching, tract distribution, and one-on-one witnessing. On Saturday afternoon, a team of lesbians harassed a group of street preachers led by Pastor Dale Demary and John Challender. In the true spirit of tolerance, the lovely, vivacious lesbo-ladies screamed expletives through bullhorns, beat on drums, and held blankets and rainbow flags in front of the pulpit. The preaching proceeded nevertheless, as it also did on Saturday evening but with much less interference.

Between the several nights and days of preaching, the prophetic picket signs, the large amount of tracts which went out, and the personal witnessing which took place, thousands of hearts were exposed to God's eternal truth regarding sin and salvation. Beyond that, the world saw Christ's Church stand against the abominable sin of homosexuality and stand in no uncertain terms for the holiness of God's Word. One of the many hearts convicted of sin belonged to a young woman who, when asked by Ralph Ovadal how she stood with the Lord, dropped the gaze of her suddenly tear-filled eyes and said, "Not very good. I'm a back-slidden Christian." Pastor Ovadal was able to counsel the young woman for a relatively long time before her friends came and literally pulled her through the Pridefest gates. Nevertheless, the conviction was genuine, the profession was honest, and the sorrow appeared to be godly. The Lord is well able to complete the good work begun in that young girl's heart and many others because Christians were willing to be treated "as the offscouring of all things" in order to be true to the Great Commission.

August 8: WCU attended Milwaukee's "Gay Pride" parade to hold signs, hand out tracts, and to reprove the unfruitful works of darkness. The parade was led off by the Milwaukee Police Department marching band! It included cross dressers, drag queens, dykes on bikes, lewdly dressed sodomite men, little children, several state representatives, and a rainbow decorated Ameritech truck. Apparently due to fear of adverse publicity, parade organizers mandated that participants must keep certain areas of their bodies covered by minimal clothing; so there was at least no outright nudity.

After the parade, a hard-core sodomite began speaking lewdly to a young Christian girl. When the girl's mother intervened, the sodomite pushed her, making certain that both of his hands were squarely on her breasts. At that point, the woman's twenty-one-year-old son stepped protectively between his mother and her assailant who proceeded to rip the son's shirt and scratch his chest. The police on the scene moved in quickly. They did not charge the sodomite with battery, sexual assault, and disorderly conduct. Rather, they arrested both the sodomite and the Christian man, hauled both to jail, and ticketed both with disorderly conduct! The sodomite was out of jail within three hours. The Christian was held for thirteen hours.

Perhaps this incident can be better put into perspective by remembering that the police band led the sodomite parade and one of their number was blatantly wearing a Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays sticker while on duty at the Pridefest carnival on Saturday. In another sign of the times, the police official responsible for ordering the arrest of the young man whose only crime was interposing himself between his mother and a perverted assailant is a professed born-again Christian!

August 13: WCU picketed Congresslesbian Tammy Baldwin's appearance in Verona. The event provoked media opportunities.

Ongoing: WCU has been doing a series of literature drops in Representative Mark Pocan's district confronting the sodomite legislator for his vociferous support of the Mazo nude beach and in turn his attack upon the welfare of the children of Wisconsin. The drops are causing no small stir.

Important Note: WCU is in real need of substantial financial help at this time, primarily due to the intensity of our summertime campaign and some unexpected large ministry expenses beyond our control.
