WCU Meets the Challenge of White's Not So Little Lies
Beaver Dam Gets Flooded . . . with Truth

November 8, 2002
Dear Friends,
With this letter, you will find an abbreviated summary
of WCU's recent ministry activities. I encourage you to read that update,
but I hope that you will also take the time to read this whole newsletter
for a more amplified report on several encouraging WCU events. We are
going great guns. If you have ever thought of helping WCU with a gift, now
would be an important time.
I want to use this short space to comment on several
recent telling events. First, as you know, Republican Governor Scott
McCallum just barely lost his seat to the evil Jim Doyle. Months ago, I -
and hundreds of you - pleaded with McCallum to shut down the nude beach
the State of Wisconsin has been running near Mazomanie. I exhorted him to
protect the women, young people, and moral climate of our state from that
insidious scourge. I told him that it was his chance to show himself to be
a strong man of courage and action. I reminded him that he had nothing to
lose by such a principled defense of the law and everything to gain. He
did not listen. Now he is looking for work. So be it. May the Lord use
McCallum's defeat as an object lesson to other "pro-family"
politicians who suffer backbone problems.
Next, I need to share some comments on the
congressional race which pitted Ron Greer against Congresslesbian Tammy
Baldwin. Greer's strategy was a case study in treachery. Most of you
remember Ron as the Madison firefighter/pastor whom WCU supported in his
struggle with the City of Madison over the issue of homosexuality. Our
support ended abruptly when Ron contracted with a professional fundraiser
and sent out letter after deceptive letter crying for personal financial
gifts even when he was on full pay, though suspended, from the Madison
Fire Department, and his wife was a highly paid guidance counselor with
the public school system. In a meeting with me and another Christian
leader, Ron admitted that he was using at least a portion of the money
collected to finish work on a lavish house he was building in the town of
Fitchburg. I remained silent during this past campaign season regarding
Mr. Greer because I did not want to seem to be the spoiler in his race
against Congresslesbian Tammy Baldwin.
It has been said that politics provides a bully pulpit
for the candidate to preach his views and worldview. This is true.
Unfortunately, Ron Greer used that pulpit to teach Christians to cravenly
compromise for perceived gain and presented the world with a twisted
version of the responsibility of the Church of Jesus Christ in the face of
pure evil and sexual anarchy. Throughout his campaign, he took great pains
to avoid talking about homosexuality and the homosexual agenda. While he
may have said differently to "conservative" Christian audiences,
publicly he took the corrupt "what people do in the privacy of their
own homes is their business" approach regarding sexual perversion.
For instance, in a November 2, 2002 guest column in the Wisconsin State
Journal, Greer boasted of having homosexuals babysit his children! He
spoke of his "homosexual colleagues." He seemed proud of the
fact that he had made it through the election season without any
"reference in this campaign to sexual preference." He also wrote
that his position on homosexuality is "a personal faith based
view" and further stated that his views are "shared by a great
many Americans which I have not raised as a campaign issue in this
race."
In the closing days of the campaign, a Washington, D.C.
based organization sent out a postcard in support of Ron Greer telling
people to call Greer and "thank him for standing up to protect
marriage and Wisconsin families." The card also urged readers to call
Representative Baldwin and "tell her to keep her personal sexual
preferences to herself." Greer's response was to denounce the
postcard, label it "a distraction," and call up Tammy Baldwin to
assure her that he had nothing to do with it! Yes, Pastor Greer's
preaching and teaching from the political pulpit must have made the
sodomites and their supporters ecstatic!
Mr. Greer ended up losing his race by a margin of 34%
to 66% and mercifully so. The Body of Christ is better off having an
out-in-the-open, avowed enemy of righteousness in office rather than an
"angel of light" using the bully pulpit of civil government to
seduce Christians away from God's eternal precepts concerning law, civil
government, and human behavior while in the process bringing God's wrath
instead of His blessing upon us. We are better off being persecuted by the
wicked than corrupted and cursed by deceivers claiming the name of Christ.
If the campaign in the second congressional district produced any good
thing, it was that Ron Greer showed his ambitious heart and his
willingness to prostitute himself in hope of gaining political office and
the praises of men. We can only pray that he will consider Mark 8:36 - "For
what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his
own soul?" The election is over, and Ron didn't even gain office,
let alone the whole world. All he did was very clumsily take the
Republican Party's "gay friendly" strategy to its logical
conclusion, spend tens of thousands of dollars spreading a message
antithetical to the eternal laws this nation was founded upon, and in the
process set a new low for Christian politicians. To top it all off, when
Mr. Greer did not get the support he wanted from Republican Party
officials, he played the race card and speculated that he was being
discriminated against because he is Black! - this in the face of the
obvious desire of Republican leaders to recruit Black candidates and
members. Once again, I urge Christians to take a biblical stand on
homosexuality and hold politicians accountable to that standard. Do not be
afraid of the heirs of Sodom; fear God, and put your trust in Him. "I
will say of the lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will
I trust" (Psalm 91:2).
By the way, when Representative Tammy Baldwin marched
in the Cheese Days Parade in Monroe, members of my church confronted her
sixteen times along the parade route and urged her to repent and turn to
Christ.
Now, as to that second telling event. In 1982,
Wisconsin was the first state in the nation to pass a so-called "gay
civil rights law." In 1983, Republican Governor Lee Dryfus signed
into law AB70, a ban on discrimination based on "sexual
orientation." Did you ever wonder what happened to the champions of
that bill? The October 17-29, 2002 issue of the sodomite newspaper In
Step has finally revealed the current status of its "chief
architect," Leon Rouse, a man looked upon with reverence by
homosexuals all across America. It seems that Rouse has been sitting in
prison in the Philippines since October 10, 1995. Leon was convicted of
having sex with a 15-year-old boy, thus violating the Philippines' child
abuse law. Of course, the writer of the In Step article shows about
as much concern for Rouse's victim as do the likes of Mark Behar, a
sodomite Milwaukee physician's assistant who says, "I am shocked and
saddened by Leon's misfortune. What horrible irony, that one of
Wisconsin's brightest and most resourceful gay activists has been made a
political prisoner in a homophobic, right wing banana republic for more
than 7 years." By the way, Mr. Behar is also a faculty member for the
University of Wisconsin system and is using his tax-funded e-mail to
organize help for Mr. Rouse.
You might find it revealing of Sodom's heart to hear
another quote from a "gay activist" which appeared in that In
Step story about Mr. Rouse: "Rouse is [in] a very tough position.
The timing couldn't be much worse. Especially, considering the current
social climate regarding child sex cases." You will notice the
concern is for Mr. Rouse, not his victim. The lament is that there is
currently a general distaste for adult/child sexual activity, not that
there is such activity taking place.
As a postscript to this story, you may be interested in
knowing that the In Step writer also used a fair amount of ink
praising a man whose "support was seen by many as instrumental in the
effort to pass AB70." The man praised is none other than Roman
Catholic Archbishop Rembert Weakland of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You no doubt
remember that Weakland has a weakness for sodomy and misappropriated
church funds in a vain attempt to silence one of his former heartthrobs. In
Step reports that the Archbishop too has put in a good word in the
Philippines on behalf of his dear friend Leon.
Considering that the sodomite movement is led by the
likes of Rouse and Weakland, and considering that the true Church is led
by Jesus Christ, it is fair to ask why the sodomites are winning victory
after victory. The answer is that most Christians will not take a
righteous, uncompromised stand against the perverted forces of darkness
and trust that God will vindicate that stand. We at Wisconsin Christians
United desire to continue standing against the forces of Sodom even as we
share the gospel with as many people as possible. We are thankful for
those of you who have joined with us in this effort. May the Lord bless
and keep each of you. Do not ever commit the sin of thinking He does not
love good and hate evil or that He will not vindicate the right. Be of
good cheer, brothers and sisters; God reigns and the Devil can never take
away your citizenship in the kingdom of His Christ. Ours is not to fear or
doubt or wonder why; our task is well put in the old hymn: "From
strength to strength go on, wrestle, and fight and pray; tread all the
powers of darkness down, and win the well-fought day."

On October 11, we lost two dear brothers in the Lord,
Dan and Bill Balint, in a car wreck. Here John Balint hands out pro-life
literature at an event just four days

WCU did media interviews with: Lynchburg,
Virginia radio, television, and newspapers; Lynchburg College newspaper;
American Family Radio Network; Concerned Women for America Radio;
Marquette County Tribune; Monroe Times; WBEV/WXRO Radio-Beaver Dam.
WCU brought Pastor Derek Carlsen to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. Derek Carlsen pastors a church in the African nation of Zimbabwe. He has
publicly called upon that nation's murderous Marxist President Robert
Mugabe to repent and govern righteously. Pastor Carlsen is also laboring
to organize other pastors to stand up for true law and Christian liberty
in his nation. On September 17, WCU brought Pastor Carlsen to Milwaukee
for a speaking engagement that no doubt changed the lives of many
Christians present. The generous offering taken at the event was donated
in its entirety by WCU to Pastor Carlsen and his family.

Ministry Highlights

". . . I am set for the defence of the gospel."
Philippians 1:17
WCU Meets the Challenge of White's Not So Little
Lies
On October 21, Mike Foht and I flew out to Lynchburg,
Virginia. We went to that city to organize a three-day ministry event in
response to Reverend Mel White's ongoing assault upon the Word of God.
White is the founder and head of Soulforce, a supposedly, but impossibly,
Christian group of sodomites whose aim is to convince the world and
intimidate the Church to believe that God blesses homosexual acts. Mel
left his wife and children years ago to pursue his love affair with sexual
perversion. He has moved into a house across from Jerry Falwell's Thomas
Road Baptist Church and has been attending that church every Sunday for
the express purpose of wearing down the congregation's conviction that
homosexual acts are sinful and condemned by God. Tragically, Pastor
Falwell has allowed this wolf to use Thomas Road Baptist Church as a
stage. Falwell has abetted White's quest for conquest in that he has not
followed the many biblical commandments against having fellowship with
such an evil, false brother. In this, Jerry has not followed Paul's
tearful exhortation to the elders of Ephesus, and everywhere else, to
guard Christ's flock against "grievous wolves."
In September, David and Jeanette Lytle asked if I would
come to Lynchburg to head up an effort to reprove Mel White's unfruitful
works of darkness. I selected October 21-23 to do just that based on the
knowledge that Soulforce was planning a weekend of media events, rallies,
and a parade on October 25-27. Sodomites from around the nation, including
a number of "clergy," were to converge on Lynchburg to spread
Soulforce's accursed gospel. The Lord led me to select the time frame for
our events based on two factors. First, Mel White had already spent weeks
sending out press releases and doing interviews. Based on that, I felt
that the media would be ready for a different side of the story and thus
help amplify our message. Secondly, knowing Soulforce's weekend plan to
spread their perverted theology, I wanted to flood Lynchburg with the
truth before White could inundate it with lies. That way, the public would
have a righteous standard whereby to judge the siren song of Soulforce.
Praise God; things could not have worked out better! We shipped our signs
and banners out ahead of us. We stuffed 13,000 "What the Bible Really
Says About Homosexuality" brochures with a one-third page flyer
exposing Mel White as a lying wolf and shipped them out ahead as well.
Here is a day-by-day summary of WCU's Lynchburg ministry effort:
Monday, October 21: Mike and I flew in to
Virginia to join a group of Christians who were waiting and eager to go to
work. We met at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church which is pastored by
Dick Knodel. We were blessed to have Pastor Knodel and some students of
Christ College labor with us in defense of the gospel. It was also a great
privilege to have with us such tried and true Christian soldiers as the
Bruce Murch family; Denny Green and his sons; South Carolinian Steve
Lefemine; Pennsylvanians Randall and Linda Beckman, Nancy Major and her
daughter. Of course, our hosts, Dave and Jeanette Lytle, were in the thick
of things as well. We did our first lit drop of homes and also a rush-hour
traffic picket. Although WCU had not sent out a press release yet,
television cameras and a newspaper reporter showed up to cover the picket
and eagerly interview us.

"What I tell you in the darkness,
that speak ye in the light: and what ye hear
in the ear, that preach ye
upon the housetops" (Matthew 10:27). Pastors
Knodel and Ovadal proclaim the Word of God to the citizens of Lynchburg.
Their audience is expanded by television coverage.

Tuesday, October 22: It was a hard-working,
productive day. We began the day by handing out literature and holding
signs at Lynchburg's two high schools. We lit dropped homes both in the
morning and during the afternoon. We held pickets at noon and during the
afternoon rush hour. Several of us preached through a "truth
horn" during the pickets. We also gave out WCU lit to drivers at the
stoplights. The local television stations carried extensive coverage of
the pickets as did the local paper; and we got some great quotes
published. That evening, about thirty of us gathered in front of the house
of Mel White and his partner in sexual crime, Gary Nixon. The police and
the press were already set up when we arrived. Mel had a group of friends
coolly sitting with him on his porch, eating snacks, and trying to look
thoughtful and tolerant. As the television cameras rolled, Pastor Knodel
and I took turns confronting White's wolf pack and preaching the Word of
God. We also prayed and read an imprecatory Psalm. White and Co. obviously
intended to simply wait us out and then cheerfully wave as we left the
scene. That was not to be. The Spirit of God was strong for His truth as
we preached, so strong that the sodomites eventually became extremely
agitated, jumped up, and made a short attempt at praying in a circle as I
preached to them. They then hurried into White's house, shut the door, and
let all the blinds down, leaving their video equipment and a group of
rejoicing Christians outside! "The wicked flee when no man
pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion" (Proverbs 28:1).

A familiar scene during
WCU's ministry in
Lynchburg.
|
Wednesday, October 23: The day started on a
glorious note. As the Lytles, Mike Foht, and I were on the way to an early
morning pre-action prayer meeting at Pastor Knodel's church, we spied a
young man with a large pro-homo banner along the roadside. We stopped and
talked with him, speaking of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He told us
that his "gay friends" did not even want to come to school
anymore because, thanks to our witness the day before, the school was
alive with anti-homosexual talk! We informed him that his friends were
fortunate to be feeling ashamed of their behavior due to such peer
pressure and that it was our prayer that their sorrow would be of the
godly sort that leads to repentance and salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10). We
also told him that God considers it an abomination to justify the wicked
(Proverbs 17:15). At that point, obviously overwhelmed with conviction,
the young man tore down his own banner. When we asked him how he stood
with God, tears filled his eyes, and he said, "I don't know." We
then shared the gospel with him and gave him the phone number of a local
Christian. As he turned to walk away, a messenger from the devil showed up
in the form of a very militant, young, feminist woman who insisted that he
not allow us to bully him. The young man ignored her shrill demands and
headed off to school with his banner under his arm, the gospel in his
mind, and a decision weighing on his heart!
After our prayer meeting, we conducted yet another lit
drop of Lynchburg homes before Mike and I headed back for Wisconsin. By
then, 10,000 WCU "Bible" brochures had been distributed
door-to-door along with 10,000 "wolf" flyers. We had also done
three prophetic pickets; witnessed at two high schools; held a church
service on Mel White's lawn; and done many interviews on radio and
television and with the local newspaper.
After I left, Pastor Dick Knodel did another in-depth
interview with a local television station; and I did one with a reporter
from the liberal Lynchburg College paper. I also did interviews with
several national Christian radio sources including Concerned Women for
America Radio. During that interview, CWA's Sandy Rios had the courage and
integrity to ask me to explain the proper thing for a pastor to do when a
man like Mel White begins attending church services. I then had the
privilege to explain from the Scriptures to listeners across America and
Canada why Jerry Falwell is erring in his "come on in and make
yourself at home" treatment of Mel White.
The day after I arrived home, a secular Lynchburg radio
station interviewed me during drive time. Mel White had been scheduled to
be on for about twenty minutes before me but for some reason did not call
in. Perhaps he was still shook up by our flood of truth and the powerful
prayer meeting at his home! The station finally reached Mel and put him on
for five minutes. The interview began with the host confronting Mel with
accusations that Soulforce had taken some of our lit off of doors.
Although it was a very small amount of lit involved, I am told the host
was quite incensed by the theft. He pressed Mel hard until he finally
blurted out, "I didn't order them to do it." A local Christian
who heard the interview said that the host all but called Mel a liar and a
thief. I was next up to be interviewed. I was told that since Mel only had
five minutes, I would get the same. However, I ended up having at least
twenty minutes and a free hand to preach my heart out. The hosts, one
woman and one man, were extremely polite and even complimentary. The woman
said she had received WCU's brochure and found it to be very well-written
and "very biblical." I ended up talking about all sorts of issue
including the gospel, civil government, and God's law. It was a powerful,
priceless twenty minutes.
The next weekend, October 25-27, a charged-up Dick
Knodel, along with some of the Christians with whom we had worked,
including the Christ College students, went to the Soulforce events to
preach, witness, give out WCU lit, and picket using the signs we left
behind. They also picketed and preached in front of a church which hosted
a Soulforce event. They reported back that the Soulforce
"pastors" preaching in the park and other places that weekend
all used the devilish distortions and corrupt doctrines which were exposed
and corrected by the brochure "What the Bible Really Says About
Homosexuality." One she-wolf is even quoted in the Lynchburg paper
saying, "There's no word in Hebrew or Greek for homosexuality. The
story of Sodom and Gomorrah has nothing to do with homosexuality. It's
about inhospitality and greed." To my eternal joy, this lie, like
many other lies, is soundly refuted in that brochure which we lit dropped
to 10,000 homes three days earlier! Even before I arrived, the Lytles had
distributed 1,000 of those brochures; and after I left, another 2,000 of
those brochures were also handed out, making for a grand total of 13,000!
I cannot say enough good about those Christians with whom I labored in
Lynchburg October 21-23; and I cannot praise God enough for defending His
Word so effectively through His people! Surely Soulforce has lost much of
their force. May it be that Christians continue to confront that pack of
howling wolves every time, and every place, they lift their voices! Back
to top.
Beaver Dam Gets Flooded . . . with Truth
We lit dropped homes, churches, and businesses on
October 8. We held a prophetic picket during which time the gospel was
shared with a number of young people. The response was overwhelmingly
favorable to our biblical message about homosexuality. A local radio
station covered our efforts. Back
to top.
Five Towns in One Day
Small town dwellers must be educated with objective
truth and hear the gospel also! On October 30, WCU blitzed four towns in
south-central Wisconsin in one day. The combined total population of the
towns is over 6,300. We not only lit dropped all the homes in each town,
but we also did the businesses and churches. At the end of the day, we
held a picket in a fifth town, Montello. A good amount of lit was given
out to drivers at the intersection. We had many one-on-one opportunities
to minister. Back to top.
Menasha Wolf Hunt
On Monday, November 4, WCU traveled to Menasha,
Wisconsin to defend the Word of God against the lies being publicly spread
by retired Presbyterian Pastor Tom Hutt. For years, Hutt has vocally
supported sodomy and preborn child killing in the name of God. Recently,
he wrote a letter to the editor explaining why God really does not condemn
homosexual acts. WCU answered Hutt's hellish hermeneutics by lit dropping
almost every home in Menasha with the brochure "What the Bible Really
Says About Homosexuality" along with a smaller flyer titled "A
Wolf on the Loose in Menasha." At the end of the day, we held a
picket during which time there were many opportunities for the Christians
with WCU to witness one-on-one to unbelievers, including to several
sodomites, one a lesbian who said her father taught her that "it does
not matter who you love." A highlight of the picket was when a local
pastor happened by and, after listening to a Christian defend the Bible
against the claims of an irate lesbian, offered encouragement to the
Christian. Praise the Lord this pastor tasted firsthand the hatred many
have against God's Word and those who follow Jesus in spirit and in truth!
Several other Christians stopped to encourage us and one asked for
literature. Back to top.
