Public Ministry Update
June 18, 2009

Dear Friends,

I hope it is fine with all of you if I keep this update of our public ministry work short and to the point. This time of year brevity is, at least by some, seen as a virtue. With that in mind, here are some of the things we have been up to, public ministry wise, the past two months.

We sent out two mass mailings, one to Hazel Green and one to Necedah. All rural homes and post office box holders in those areas received our An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics tract and our Heaven or Hell gospel tract. There truly is an urgent need to reach Roman Catholics, and the general population as well, with gospel truth and also the truth about the pope's church. Our Urgent Plea tract does a good job of exposing the false dogmas of popery, comparing them to the Word of God.

The vast majority of Christians are also quite in the dark regarding Romanism. With that in mind, we paid the fee to have our An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics put in the "goody bags" given out at the Wisconsin Christian Home Educators Association conference, May 28-May 30. Of course, it is entirely possible that a few of those receiving the WI CHEA "goody bags" were Roman Catholics. We are thankful WI CHEA did not reject our tract as being too controversial. May the Lord be pleased to use it to open many evangelical eyes to the evils of Romanism and, for that matter ecumenism, as well as stir up a concern for the souls of the Roman Catholic people.

By the way, when we are lit dropping homes with our gospel tracts, we always include an Urgent Plea tract on the door of every church, regardless of what sort of church it happens to be. In this ecumenical age, one cannot go wrong taking that approach. When my wife and I were recently lit dropping gospel tracts in Dubuque, Iowa, we left one such tract, along with our Urgent Plea tract, on the door of a large, liberal United Methodist church. The lady pastor, who was no lady and could never be a true pastor, quickly tracked us down, demanding to know what we were doing. This she-wolf had no comprehension of gospel truth, no understanding of evangelism, and was ecumenical to the core. Further, when I confronted her with scripture concerning her, a woman, usurping the role of pastor, she really showed her true nature. But such are the days in which we live. We must not back down from confronting the enemies of our Lord and His church.

On Friday night, June 12, a few from our church distributed gospel tracts at the Polkafest in New Glarus. The next day, we set up our large Scripture signs at the farmers' market on the capitol square in Madison. Many thousands read those signs, and we were also able to give out around 1,000 gospel tracts. Several men also did some preaching. Lord willing, we will be back at the farmers' market in July and have laid plans to be a witness at a very large open-air ecumenical event in August. There are also several other public events this summer of which we hope to take advantage to be a gospel witness. And, of course, we continue to literature drop homes with our literature and supply it to others. Mike Foht also is a regular witness at the Madison abortion mill and on State Street in Madison. In April, he and another brother handed out our literature on homosexuality and held signs in front of the Dubuque, Iowa courthouse after a judge forced "same-sex marriage" on that state.

I should mention a great blessing with regard to our Madison bus campaign. As I reported on in previous newsletters, we had rented one side of each of eleven Madison Metro buses to display our response to messages the Freedom from Religion Foundation placed on the inside of a number of buses. Our contract with the advertising agency gave us one month, March 9-April 6, to display our message on the buses. However, apparently things are slow in advertising just now. As late as May 19, at least some of the buses were still sporting our message! When business is slow, advertising agencies often leave messages up, rather than leave a bus or a billboard bare. But this is the grace of God that the advertising agency chose to leave our messages on those particular buses instead of leaving other messages on other buses. Considering Madison Metro buses are shifted all around that city, including the UW campus area as well as Verona and Fitchburg, our bus campaign has turned out to be money well spent! It seems beyond doubt that the Lord has blessed this stand for His name and glory.

In reporting on our work, I do want to also mention that our Heart of the Matter program (www.sermonaudio.com/hom) seems to be a blessing and encouragement to many faithful brethren, including in other nations. We trust it is also a means to equip many to contend for our gospel faith. In times like these, the value of encouraging, edifying, and equipping the saints cannot be overestimated.

And, with my brief report promise hanging in the balance, I do want to mention one more encouragement. When we distribute literature, we sometimes get calls from individuals who have received it and would like to have some to distribute themselves. For instance, this month a man from Rockford, Illinois e-mailed to ask if he could have some copies of What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality. And I know you will be encouraged by this account from a lady with close ties to our church and who has many times been with us in open-air ministry. The incident of which she speaks took place after she handed out some of our tracts on homosexuality to Fredonia High School on the "Day of Silence":

Afterwards, I stopped at a combo gas station/McDonald's in the town and a woman asked me what I had been passing out. She was a bus driver and had seen me; we talked for a short time—very open. I went back to my car and got tracts, then 3 or 4 more people inside the restaurant asked me for lit. Amazing! The woman told me I should pass out lit there . . .

Our sincere thanks to all of you who pray for this work and also to those who help to fund it.

Franklin Graham's "Rock"
"For their rock is not as our Rock . . ." Deuteronomy 32:31
As the old saying goes, some things never change. Included in that category would have to be the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Billy may no longer hold the reins of that ministry, but they are still firmly in the hands of a consummate neo-evangelical, his son Franklin. I assume most who read this article are familiar with Billy Graham's corrupted gospel and his spiritual fornication with Rome. To say the least, son Franklin is no improvement in that regard. Take, for instance, the upcoming "Rock the River" campaign Graham and his organization have planned for this July-August. . .
