Pilgrims Covenant Church Public Ministry Update
November 15, 2008—January 28, 2009

Dear Friends,

It has been two months since I last sent you a summary of our PCC public ministry work. I have to admit, the crazy winter weather we have been having has affected, to some extent, the open-air ministry we do. However, it has still been a productive period with our church members alone distributing nearly 17,000 tracts of various sorts. We have also provided our tracts for others to distribute, as shown by our summary at the end of this letter. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you who help make this flood of truth possible with your gifts.

By the way, we have once again had some great encouragement with regard to our providing tracts to others. In December, a Christian brother from Fitchburg, a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin, called our church. He had received our tract What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality during a lit drop of his area. This man asked for more of those tracts, some of our other tract on homosexuality, and also some of our gospel tracts. He told me that Madison is an evil place which needs the truth from God’s Word. He said that it doesn’t bother him what anyone thinks and that he was going to begin his lit distribution by giving our tracts about homosexuality to some acquaintances who attend a pro-sodomite church. This is far from the first time the Lord has greatly multiplied the fruit borne by the efforts of those involved in our PCC public ministry.

On November 21, we held our large gospel signs and handed out tracts to the crowd at the WIAA state high school football championships. We actually witnessed to the fans, predominately young, at two different football games. Things went very well, with a good number of tracts given out. We were very encouraged to see the vast majority of the tracts being read immediately or put into pockets or purses for later. While we were the targets of a certain amount of contempt, mostly from older fans, over all, we were quite well-received. In fact, a number of people kindly encouraged us and, in several cases, teenagers came up to voluntarily ask for gospel tracts when the fans were passing by us so fast and furious that we did not have a chance to offer each one a tract. Of course, even the fans who did not take tracts from us did have the opportunity to read our gospel signs. So we rejoice that the gospel was communicated to tens of thousands of football fans.

On December 5, we conducted a gospel witness at the Holiday Parade here in Monroe. This was not a large event, but hundreds of people still received the gospel, by our tracts or by our signs. That was about it for "big event" ministry work for us the past couple of months. Winter does not offer nearly as many such opportunities, although our Mike Foht continues to regularly preach on State Street in Madison and also at the Madison abortion mill.

As I am writing this newsletter, we have just recently sent our An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics tract, along with our Heaven or Hell gospel tract, to all the rural homes around Steubenville, Ohio, home of the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Of the 1,028 homes receiving those tracts, it is a safe assumption that many are the residences of Roman Catholics and the rest are subject to a heavy Romanist influence. I have no doubt we will be receiving much response, some of it quite nasty, from this mailing. But our purpose and prayer in such mailings is that the dark idolatry and blasphemy of Romanism will be revealed and that souls will be saved. In past newsletters, I have informed readers that we have also been supplying our Christian brother Pastor Bert Craft with our Urgent Plea tracts in Spanish free of any charge. Pastor Craft is a missionary in Mexico who works diligently to reach the Mexican people with the gospel. To date, we have supplied this faithful, proven brother and his co-laborers with 55,000 Urgent Plea which they have been giving out at local, regularly-held Roman Catholic festivals. We hope to be able to continue to supply Pastor Craft with those tracts, as they are needed. Recently, we gave a quantity of them also to a Christian friend in South Carolina. He in turn passed them out at an ecumenical Right to Life event in Columbia on January 17. This brother is very active on behalf of the unborn and against abortion, but he is also taking a stand against ecumenical error and making efforts to reach Roman Catholics for Christ.

Thanks again for remembering us before God’s throne of grace and also for helping us to keep stocked up with the "ammunition" to fight our good fight for the Lord.
