Pilgrims Covenant Church Public Ministry Update
April 15—June 19, 2008

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."
—Matthew 5:14

Dear Friends,

I want to begin with our heartfelt appreciation to those who pray for and support this public ministry work. I hope those of you who recently sent gifts will not mind if we use this opportunity to thank you and save some money on postage this month. Your support is much appreciated and, we trust, bearing much fruit.

We continue to regularly print our various tracts, with a few exceptions, in batches of 30,000 and 50,000. I hope you are encouraged to know that we have also just recently sent payment to print 25,000 of our Spanish version An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics. I say "sent payment" because missionary Pastor Bert Craft, with whom we are working on this project, has arranged for a trusted American printer in Mexico to do the printing. This will save the high postage expense of sending those tracts from here. Brother Bert and his flock have been distributing the Urgent Plea tracts at Roman Catholic festivals in Mexico. He also gave quantities of the last batch of 30,000 to a number of trusted pastors in other parts of Mexico to distribute. What an encouragement to be a part of reaching so many Roman Catholic Mexicans with the gospel truth!

On another issue, many of you know that recently a courageous pastor in Alberta, Canada was fined by that province's "Human Rights" Commission. The ruling also banned Pastor Stephen Boissoin from speaking, writing, or disseminating anything "disparaging" of homosexuality for the rest of his life! We have said it before, and we'll say it again: the heart of Sodom is fascist and, for that matter, when opportunity presents itself, brutal as well. The Word of God, history, and current events all establish this to be undeniably true. The sooner Christians come to grips with this reality, the better. I have written and spoken extensively on that very subject. I will not, in this short space, revisit it. However, I do want to stress the importance of taking a proper, biblical stand against homosexuality. Any other stand is doomed to failure. Unfortunately, many well-meaning evangelicals continue to erode away the very foundation of truth upon which we must stand if we would, Lord willing, turn back the sodomite tide.

After the Alberta Human Rights Commission handed down the decision against him, Rev. Boissoin bravely vowed to fight on and stated that he would never apologize, as ordered, for the statements on homosexuality which triggered the initial HRC case against him. Unfortunately, in interviews with the media, Rev. Boissoin also stated: "If a homosexual couple wants to keep their relationship in the bedroom then I'll mind my own business and carry on with my own life," and, "I am all for tolerance, I don't want to see anyone who calls themselves homosexual be discriminated against."

Tragically, such statements are standard fare from evangelicals these days and are a great help to the sodomites in the battle to capture the hearts and minds of the citizenry. I certainly believe Rev. Boissoin ought to be supported, and we should pray for him. I am thankful that he is fighting for religious liberty and free speech in Canada against the homo-fascists. But he and many others do not seem to realize that when they take the position summed up by those statements I just quoted from Rev. Boissoin, they are strengthening the foundation of the sodomites' strategy and tearing the foundation out from under themselves, not to mention the rest of us who stand against New Sodom. Ironically, the "consenting adults in private" and "just no discrimination" arguments were at one time on the cutting edge of the sodomites' political, legal agenda. Now, standing upon that foundation, they are pressing forward toward ever more perverse, not to mention tyrannical, objectives. Meanwhile, many Christians are publically, and it seems almost constantly, reiterating and reinforcing the fundamental premises of the sodomite agenda without which the whole abominable edifice would come crashing down!

As I, and other pastors here and there, have documented many times, it is clear from the Word of God that the civil government has a duty to criminalize sodomite acts. It is likewise clear that citizens have a right, and even a duty, to discriminate against open homosexuals in such matters as hiring employees, renting property, or choosing who will rule over them in the civil government. Those Christians who say homosexuals should not be discriminated against are telling the world just the opposite of what I just stated. And when Christians say they believe homosexuals should not be discriminated against, they are holding the door open to sodomite police officers, military personnel, teachers, social workers, and, very dangerously, judges! Further, they are stating, at least to a gullible public, that sodomites ought to be able to adopt children and—yes—get married.

As I said, this is a subject I have covered well in the past and, due to space, will not expand on it here. However, I want to encourage you that our tract Homosexuality: The Truth deals with these very issues. Every month, thousands of copies of that tract are lit dropped at Wisconsin homes alone and also distributed in other parts of our nation. The same can be said for our tract What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality. We are fighting the sodomite propaganda machine with straightforward truth and plenty of it. I believe the Lord has richly blessed our efforts over the years. But whether the Lord chooses to turn back the sodomite tide or let it wash over a sinful nation, and a fallen away church, as He allowed the Babylonians to chasten His sinful people long ago, we know that fighting evil and darkness with truth and light is always right. And, of course, our tracts on homosexuality contain the gospel.

There is nothing more pressing than the proclamation and defense of the gospel. A big part of our ministry is lit dropping gospel tracts door to door and distributing them during our open-air gospel work. For instance, on May 24, we set up our Scripture signs at the farmers' market in Madison. We gave out about 1,000 gospel tracts and thirty Gospels of John. Four of us also took turns preaching to the large crowd.

Then on June 14, we set up our signs and handed out gospel tracts on the courthouse square of our hometown. The event was the Taste of Monroe. Due to various circumstances, only four of us were able to make this ministry event. However, with the Lord's help, we were still able to distribute close to six hundred gospel tracts and had some encouraging conversations. We felt very confident that the Lord was truly working with us and blessing our efforts.

Of course, we continue the other week-to-week ministry work I have talked about in other newsletters, including our weekly witness at Planned Parenthood.

In closing, I do want to mention two encouraging things with regard to our witness against Romanism and to the Roman Catholic people. During the pope's USA visit in April, we supplied Urgent Plea tracts which were given out at papal appearances in the East. Meanwhile, I sent out a statement on the pope, and our local paper published a shortened version of it. I felt as a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ that I ought to speak up when such a wolf as the pope—you might say, the head of the pack—visits our nation. My statement was well read and elicited quite a response. Also, we were greatly encouraged during the time of the pope's visit to see a past message of mine, "Who Is the Antichrist and Why Does It Matter?" receive hundreds of downloads on SermonAudio. On a related note, during this newsletter period, we sent out, on request, hundreds of copies of our booklet Romanizing America through Illegal Immigration. We also distributed some of our An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics at the huge Roman Catholic Sinsinaua complex in Southwest Wisconsin.

Our desire is to see Roman Catholics saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone and to see the darkness of popery confronted with the light of God's Word. We trust that is your desire as well and are blessed by that aspect of this ministry.

Please pray that the gospel will continue to have free course in this country and that the Church of Jesus Christ will not only remain free but also exercise her freedom for the glory of God and the advance of the gospel.
