Covenant Church Public Ministry Update
February 13—April 14, 2008
"O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid:
O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years,
in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy."
—Habakkuk 3:2
Dear Friends,
It is about time to send out an update, in summary form, of the PCC public ministry work which so many of you graciously remember in prayer and generously support. We are thankful for that prayer and support. We weekly hear from a good number of vicious foes but also not a few sincere truth-seekers as well as friends of gospel truth and Christian liberty. This is due to our relentless literature distribution and also the weekly
"Heart of the
Matter" program. Every month, multiple thousands receive our various brochures and tracts, either at their doors due to our lit drops or in their hands during one of our open-air ministry events. Many of these in turn go to our
church's web site and are given a further dose of truth.
We are certainly grateful for those far-sighted individuals who help us keep up with the cost of printing so much literature. Just since our last newsletter, we have received from our printer 30,000 of the brochure
What the Bible Really Says about
Homosexuality, 12,700 of the brochure An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics (Spanish
version), and 1,000 of the booklet Romanizing America through Illegal
Immigration. By the time you receive this mailing, we will have also put in an order for another 20,000
An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics brochures (English
version), 30,000 Heaven or Hell gospel tracts, and 5,000
How Long Have I to Live? gospel tracts. While some of our literature is given to others at cost, the vast majority is either distributed by PCC or given to others at no cost to distribute. So you can see why we are so grateful for your prayers and support.
By the way, we sent the last of our current supply of
Urgent Plea tracts to some close brethren from Pennsylvania who, by the time you will receive this newsletter, will have given them out to Roman Catholics at the
pope's appearances in the East. While we would have greatly enjoyed to give those tracts out in person, the next best thing was to know that would be accomplished by those brethren I mentioned.

Part of our gospel witness at the WIAA
boys basketball championships. |
We continue our weekly work at our local Planned Parenthood, where we set up a witness using signs and also preach the gospel to the young people. There are also some members of our church out each week literature dropping homes both locally and in other parts of the state. Mike Foht continues his rigorous lit dropping schedule, regular witness at a Madison abortion mill, and also his gospel witness on State Street in Madison.

Offering the gospel to basketball fans
as they cross the perimeter
of the Kohl Center grounds. |
On February 23, we set up our large Scripture signs on the broad public sidewalk leading to the Kohl Center in Madison and handed out gospel tracts to the many thousands of wrestling fans attending the WIAA state wrestling championships. Many of the older fans had been drinking; so we did experience a certain amount of jeering and harassment but nothing exceptional. We gave out 2,370 gospel tracts to the crowd and saw many put into the pockets of those who took them, which is always a very good sign! Of course, thousands read our Scripture signs as well. We are confident that the Lord accomplished His purposes through our presence and went home joyful that so many thousands had been given a solid gospel witness.
We are equally confident of that very thing concerning our March 8th gospel witness at the WIAA boys basketball championships, also held at the Kohl Center. At that event, we were enabled by the Lord to hand out 1,800 gospel tracts.

"So shall my word
be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall
not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I
please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

A very appropriate message
at a parade celebrating
a Roman Catholic holiday. |
On March 17, some of us from PCC set up a gospel witness along the route of the St.
Patrick's Day parade in Monroe. While this parade does not exactly rival the ones held in such places as Chicago, we did hand out a nice number of gospel tracts for the size of the crowd. With the gospel tracts, we included an article by our friend Rev. Ivan Foster of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church, Northern Ireland. Rev.
Foster's article is titled "The Footsteps of
Patrick" and tells the truth about the Christian man the Roman Catholic Church wrongfully claims as her own. Since there were a good number of Roman Catholics in the St.
Patrick's parade, I held a sign which read, "The just shall live by faith." It was not our intent to get in the
Romanists' faces, but, Lord willing, to get the Word of God into their hearts.

Handing out literature at the
"St." Patrick's Day parade. |
Our PCC Spring Preaching Conference took place the weekend of April 5th. Though we do not use public ministry funds to put that conference on, I thought you would be happy to know that it was a great success. We are confident that the cause and church of Christ Jesus
were greatly benefited from it.
Speaking of spring, we are planning, Lord willing, to conduct a number of gospel outreaches, including tract distribution, open-air preaching, and Scripture sign display, in the coming months at the
farmers' market on the square in Madison, in front of the "Christian" rock festival
Cornerstone, and also during
Monroe's semi-annual four-day Cheese Days festival, which brings as many as 100,000 people into our small town of 10,000. We are praying the Word of the Lord will have free course in the coming months and the Lord would bless our witness with much success.
Thanks again for your friendship, prayers, and support of this ministry work. Remember to pray for revival.

Benedict, Go Home!
A statement by Pastor
Ralph Ovadal, Pilgrims Covenant Church, Monroe, Wisconsin
Pilgrims Covenant
Church does not join politicians, apostate religious figures, and members
of the media in welcoming Pope Benedict XVI to our beloved country. We
hold the pope to be no friend of the true gospel or true church of Jesus
Christ. For that matter, he is no friend to the millions of Roman
Catholics deceived and held in bondage by the papacy's blasphemous and
idolatrous dogmas and rituals (http://www.pccmonroe.org/Ecumenism/urgent.htm).
We hold to the historic Protestant position (http://www.pccmonroe.org/Ecumenism/nothate.htm)
and, we firmly believe, Scriptural position that this pope and every pope
is that man of sin, the son of perdition warned of in the Word of God (II
Thessalonians chapter two). In short, we hold the popes to be antichrist
(I John 2:18) and their church to be the Mother of Harlots
spoken of in Revelation chapter 17 (http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/antichrist).
Furthermore, we maintain that the papacy,
including this pope, has been no friend to America. Rather, from the
beginning of our history, the popes have stood opposed to our republican
form of government as well as our political institutions, economic
policies, and system of jurisprudence which were all firmly founded upon
principles set forth in the Scriptures and faithfully carried into law by
our Protestant forefathers.
Since the settling of our country until
this day, the popes have continually sided with America's enemies (http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/401).
Also, several popes, including this one, and their bishops in America and
Mexico have labored mightily against a secure border policy for America
and have actively assisted the illegal alien invasion of our country from
Mexico (http://www.pccmonroe.org/Ecumenism/romanizingamerica.htm).
We could go on to list example after example in order to document the
pope's contempt for the sovereignty, security, and identity of our nation.
As the President of our nation bows and scrapes before that tiara-wearing
religious dictator who literally sits on a throne and claims to be
infallible, we cannot help but remember that the rallying cry of our War
for Independence was "No King but King Jesus."
Our hope and prayer is that the Lord
will yet save many Roman Catholic people by grace alone, through faith
alone in Christ Jesus alone, bringing them out of the Roman Catholic
Church and into the Kingdom of God (http://www.pccmonroe.org/Evangelism/gospel.htm).
And may the Lord save the United States of America from the corrupting,
enslaving darkness of popery.
