Covenant Church Public Ministry Update
December 7, 2007—February 12, 2008
Dear Friends,
As I write this, we are in the throes of a winter that has been characterized by wild extremes and plenty of snow. Winter in Wisconsin in the best of times is not the most conducive to open-air witness. In the winter, we tend to more emphasize door-to-door lit dropping and mass mailings.
In February, Lord willing, we will be conducting an important gospel witness at the WIAA boys wrestling championships in Madison, Wisconsin. We will be holding our large gospel signs, handing out gospel tracts, and as the Lord leads, preaching to many thousands. In March, we will be in front of the WIAA boys basketball championships. Of course, from then on, we will have plenty of opportunities and crowds for open-air ministry at various events through the spring and into the fall.
But
we have been greatly encouraged in the Lord these past two months since I
last sent out an update on the public ministry work of Pilgrims Covenant
Church. It has been a time in which we have seen the Lord work in
wonderful ways to spread His Word. In January, a powerful "holy order" of
the Orthodox Church, including high-ranking clergymen, lashed out against
me because of a "Heart
of the Matter" program in which I interviewed a former member
of the Greek Orthodox Church. This individual was saved by grace alone
through faith alone in Christ alone and now seeks to bring the gospel to
the Orthodox people. To make a long story short, the "holy order" I
mentioned went, as they say, ballistic against me through their online
publication. The verbal rampage included a crude cartoon and a letter from
one of those stereo-typical "former members" of Pilgrims Covenant Church
whom they kept anonymous for his own safety since "these people would go
to any length in order to retaliate." I have no idea who that individual
could be and found it quite dishonorable that they presented the person as
a reliable source of—what can I say?—vitriol and innuendo. But God be
praised, the whole situation resulted in the former Greek Orthodox and me
doing another in-depth program on the errors and false doctrines of the
Orthodox Church. In addition, there is no doubt that readers of the
Orthodox online publication not only visited our church web site but also
accessed the controversial HOM program since articles about me contained
links to those very things.
But allow me to go on to another example of the Lord working in wonderful ways to spread His Word. On January 11, a Reuters news service article titled
"Catholics Play Vital Role in Helping Migrants to U.S." appeared in newspapers around the nation. This article included the following quote from me:
"The Roman Catholic Church is aiding and abetting the criminal invasion of America from
Mexico." That quote is from an article I wrote which is available in booklet form and titled
Romanizing America through Illegal
Immigration. The Reuters article was not only published in many newspapers but also posted on many web sites, including the site for the Roman Catholic Eternal Word Television Network. As a consequence of this, we had a great many individuals come to our
church's web site and read not only the Romanizing America article but also our
An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics and no doubt our gospel literature as well as other articles on popery. We know many Roman Catholics were on our site because I received quite a few e-mails from Romanists. May the Lord be pleased to save some out of the darkness and hopeless bondage of Romanism! The Reuters article was also posted on the web sites of many organizations and individuals working to resecure
America's borders. Some of those individuals and visitors to those sites have doubtless now read the gospel literature on our web site I mentioned earlier, but also my article which documents how and why the Roman Catholic Church is working to bring illegal Roman Catholic immigrants from Mexico into America and agitating against all true immigration reform in order to Romanize our nation. We praise the Lord for this amplification of our ministry efforts. It is all the
Lord's doing and marvelous in our eyes.

A Christian sister in Mexico hands out
one of our Spanish Urgent Plea tracts. |
A third of many encouraging developments over the past two months took place in Mexico. Our Christian brother, missionary and pastor Bert Craft, received from us well over half of a shipment of just under 30,000 of our
Spanish version
An Urgent Plea to Roman Catholics tract. Pastor Craft and his church almost immediately began handing out the tracts at some of the many Roman Catholic open-air markets and events which are regularly held around Mexico. The tracts were soon all handed out at several large events, and our brother reports that very few were found thrown on the ground. Soon Pastor Craft and his stalwart band of contenders will have the last batch of those tracts. Lord willing, they will also soon be in the hands—and the content, we hope, in the hearts—of thousands of Mexican people. Consequently, we are now making plans to print another 50,000 of our Spanish version of the
Urgent Plea tract, which will also be distributed by Pastor Craft and his flock. If any of you would like to earmark a donation for the expenses connected to that very worthy and needful project, we will gratefully receive that gift and put it to that use.

in whom they have not believed?
and how shall they believe in him
of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without
a preacher?"

In January, we sent Mike Foht on a solo mission to Green Bay, Wisconsin where he faithfully labored to spread the biblical truth about homosexuality. In three days, Mike lit dropped almost 4,000 Green Bay homes with our tracts which deal with homosexuality and also have a gospel message. In addition, Mike handed out those tracts to students at three Green Bay schools and during a one-man witness he conducted in front of an event at the Lambeau Field stadium. Mike also continues to regularly preach and evangelize on State Street in Madison.
Our other ministry work goes on, including door-to-door lit dropping by a number of PCC members as well as our ministry at Planned Parenthood in Monroe and an abortion clinic in Madison. Below you will find a summary of our distribution of literature these past two months. Our heartfelt thanks to all who have been praying for this work and also those who help provide the financial means for it.
