Pastor Ovadal and WCU Missionary Mike Foht traveled to
San Diego. Pastor Ovadal spoke a number of times, gave a Saturday seminar,
and preached on Sunday morning and evening in a large church. A very
beneficial trip which the Lord seems to have greatly blessed.
A controversy erupted in Madison, Wisconsin after WCU
secured a mailing list of all the parents of LaFollette High School
students and did a mass mailing to expose the Gay Straight Alliance Club
which had been formed and was meeting in that school. The mailing also
contained a WCU brochure on homosexuality and information about the club's
sponsor, Gay/Lesbian/Straight Education Network. The story was highlighted
on Madison television channels and thoroughly discussed in the LaFollette
High School newspaper which also ran an editorial by Pastor Ovadal. The
club turned into a failure. Back to

February
A lit drop and picket at Lodi High School sparked a
furor which ended with the students of the school extending an invitation
for Pastor Ovadal to speak. The speaking engagement fell through,
apparently after teachers nixed the idea. Back

March
WCU launched a massive PR campaign against the Mazo
nude beach, in which WCU sent a mailing to approximately 7,700 homes in
the Mazo area. In addition to much information exposing the duplicity and
deception of those state officials defending that slice of Sodom on the
Wisconsin River, the mailing included postcards that recipients could sign
and return to Governor Tommy Thompson and Secretary George Meyer,
requesting them to put an end to the nudity at Mazo beach. The mailing
also included an audio tape on which Pastor Ovadal interviewed Dr. Judith
Reisman, a world famous author, researcher, and child advocate. The
interview contained some very blunt warnings to parents about nude
beaches, child pornography, and child sexual molestation. The mailing
stirred up a great public discussion and a great anger against the DNR
sponsored and protected nude beach.
The now defunct sodomite newspaper the Wisconsin
Light ran an extremely vicious front-page parody of Pastor Ovadal
which mocked his service to Christ and his fidelity to his wife.
A successful, well-publicized picket and lit drop of
Beloit during Beloit College Pride Week. Very well covered by area press.
Waukesha Wolf Hunt. WCU was later contacted by members
of the wolf's church who indicated that they were determined that their
pro-homo pastor would either mute his howling or leave. He left for
another position several months later!
Pastor Ovadal, Mike Foht, and many other Christians
testified at an assembly hearing on AB781, a bill to ban any chance that
"same-sex marriages" would be recognized in Wisconsin no matter
where they are contracted. As usual, Republican assembly leaders made sure
the bill did not pass while all the while piously pledging their support,
but at least much truth was aired. Back

May
Campaign to expose the Gay Straight Alliance Club which
had started up in the Sun Prairie school system. Results similar to the
LaFollette campaign.
Residents in a number of towns around Mazo beach were
sent another mailing which included the results of a WCU Freedom of
Information search of DNR files. The FOI search clearly revealed that the
nude beach posed an incredible danger to the families in the area. It also
proved that the DNR knows that the nudity is moving off of the beach.
Perhaps most damaging to the DNR, it documented that nudists leaders had
struck a backroom deal with the DNR in which the latter agreed not to
prosecute the former so long as they stayed on, or fairly close to, the
tax-funded Mazo beach.

Pastor Ovadal preaches the gospel
on the Mazo
beach parking lot.
|
WCU went to Mazo beach (parking lot and path to beach
only) to witness, picket, and preach from the back of a flatbed pickup
truck. The nudists became quite agitated but heard needed truth. Law
enforcement personnel had a coronary when we unfurled our flags and
marched to the beach singing hymns. We stopped just short of the beach and
avoided the nudity. Back to top.
June
Another campaign to expose a Gay Straight Alliance
Club, this time in the Waunakee school district.
WCU held a press conference to announce that a lawsuit
will be filed against the State of Wisconsin by the owner of a canoe
rental business across the Wisconsin River from Mazo beach. The suit is
being underwritten by WCU and should come to trial in February, 2001.

A brother preaches at Pridefest
while other Christians share one-on-one.
|
Pastor Ovadal was found guilty of disorderly conduct
for leading the Mazo beach blockade of 1999. The trial was attended by a
large group of Christians and became an excellent platform for the
promulgation of truth. Judge Steven Ebert made it clear that Pastor Ovadal
was also guilty in part for using words such as sinner and sodomite
while preaching at Mazo beach. The trial was well covered by press.

WCU Missionary Mike Foht is arrested
at
Pridefest for sharing the gospel.
|
WCU went to Pridefest three times and covered the
"Gay Pride Parade" as well. Signs, gospel tracts, prayer, Bible
reading, and street preaching were the weapons of righteousness used.
Several Christians were arrested but later found innocent in court! Back

No children at the beach today! A
righteous
blockade on the road to Mazo beach.
|
WCU hit Mazo beach hard. Beachgoers were forced to run
a "gospel gauntlet" on their one-mile walk to the beach. In
addition, WCU sent preachers via boat to preach from the river off-shore
from Mazo beach, far enough that body features could not be seen but close
enough that the amplified preaching hit the beach loud and clear. The
Christians with WCU blocked the road to the beach three times to prevent
children from being taken there. After a very tense stand, the hordes of
law enforcement officials present told the nudist parents to take the
children home! Officers from four different law enforcement agencies were
present. At least one sodomite became a new child of the kingdom after
repenting and giving his life to Christ! Nudists on the internet began
talking of using violence against Pastor Ovadal and WCU. Back

August
Pastor Ovadal is sentenced by Judge Ebert for leading
the 1999 blockade at Mazo beach. The press coverage was excellent with
much truth coming out. Pastor Ovadal preached over a bullhorn in front of
the courthouse using the words for which the judge convicted him of
disorderly conduct --sodomite, sinner, etc. Television coverage showed him
preaching with one channel running a feature called "The Preacher's
Pulpit."
Large numbers of Christians with WCU hit Mazo beach
again. Nudists were met by roving bands of evangelists in the parking lot
and then forced to run a gospel gauntlet of Christians holding signs and
handing out tracts along the mile-long gravel walk to the beach. Pastor
Ovadal and others preach the gospel using all the words Judge Ebert
condemned as constituting "disorderly conduct." No arrests were
made. Extensive press coverage put the nude beach issue squarely back in
front of the public.
At their request, Pastor Ovadal met with a number of
officials from the Dane County Sheriff's Department and the Department of
Natural Resources. The officials told Pastor Ovadal that WCU's activities
at Mazo beach are very expensive to the government, both in terms of
manpower and money. They made several requests of Pastor Ovadal with which
he was unable to agree. Pastor was able to share much truth. Several of
the officers were very receptive. Pastor also let the DNR know that WCU is
making plans to man the beach parking lot on a regular basis next year if
the nudity is not stopped. They informed him that they are forming a
special police unit to deal with WCU at the beach. The meeting confirmed
that the Mazo nude beach has become a very expensive, very contentious
issue for the DNR as well as for many state and county officials.
After being threatened with a lawsuit, the News-Sickle-Arrow
newspaper ran a full-page editorial with a huge headline reading, "We
Are Sorry, Pastor Ovadal." Previously, the newspaper had run a very
misleading, slanderous story about WCU and Pastor Ovadal. Back

September
WCU Missionary Mike Foht was attacked in Brooklyn,
Wisconsin while holding a sign reading "Homosexuality is wrong."
Mike's attacker repeatedly cursed him with vile language, kicked his sign,
pushed him, made a number of serious threats, and made it abundantly clear
that he hated Mike because he is a Christian. The same district attorney
who prosecuted Dary Byczek for "hate crimes" let Mike's attacker
avoid trial by paying a $100 fine. Of course, no hate crime charges were
filed. Back to top.
October
A large group of Christians with WCU lined the AIDS
Walk route in Milwaukee holding signs, passing out tracts, street
preaching, and witnessing one-on-one. AIDS Walk celebrity spokesman Jackie
Joyner Kersee was confronted with the gospel of Jesus Christ and told the
way of salvation. Back to top.

One of many WCU prophetic
pickets—this one in
Sparta.
|
A two-day WCU Truth Blitz hit LaCrosse, Sparta, Tomah,
and Mauston. Prophetic pickets, thousands of brochures distributed, much
street preaching, and abundant one-on-one witnessing took place. All three
towns were greatly stirred. Several newspaper editors launched an attack
on Pastor Ovadal personally but allowed Pastor to write his own editorial
in response! Back to top.
All Year
As always, tens of thousands of brochures were dropped
by WCU regulars week by week on the doorstep of homes around Wisconsin.
Our brochures were also distributed in California, Pennsylvania, Ontario,
and Saskatchewan. Late in the year, we launched our 100 x 6 Project
through which individuals are committing to lit drop at least 100 each of
WCU's six brochures. We have not reached 100 volunteers yet, but there has
been a very good response and many individuals have committed to dropping
more than 600 brochures.
As usual, Pastor Ovadal did many radio, newspaper, and
television interviews which served to get truth out to a truth-deprived
culture.
The Mazo beach fight was waged on many fronts, in many
ways, large and small, all year long. Though that battle has not yet been
won, we have had a telling effect on the situation with attendance at the
beach down 80% and few children seen there anymore. Of course, as Pastor
Ovadal says, should we now pull back and disengage from this battle, that
beachfront brothel will soon be doing bargain basement business again. But
we have no intention of retreating.
During the election season, a WCU brochure on
homosexuality and a flyer connecting Congresslesbian Tammy Baldwin to the
homosexual, child-recruiting movement in the schools was dropped on the
doorsteps of homes in a number of towns in Tammy's district. Although she
won in most of those towns last election cycle, she lost in many of them
this time around and almost lost the election.
In the year 2000, WCU also spent considerable time and
effort with regard to the battle raging around the Dary Byczek hate crime
charges.
"And such were some of you: but ye are
washed, but ye are sanctified,
but ye are justified in the name of the
Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."
