An ongoing controversy over a nude summer camp for
teenagers in Florida has heated up again with the revelation that Walt
Zadanoff, a former president of a group which ran the camp, has been
caught selling videos featuring nude teenage girls. This
"shocking" revelation should come as no surprise to anyone who
can put one and one together and come up with two. Public nudity draws
perverts. Nude children attract pedophiles.
In response to the Florida controversy, various
"naturist" organizations are issuing statements geared to
distance themselves from child porn; but even those statements reveal the
twisted mind of the public nude movement. For instance, in a St.
Petersburg Times July 25, 2003 article, American Association for Nude
Recreation spokeswoman Deb Peterson stated, "While the video content
may be fine, the focus on the child element to sell it was not
appropriate." So the message from AANR to Walt, et al is
"take pictures of underage nude children and sell them, but toss a
few nude adults in for camouflage." Of course, organizations such as
AANR are the problem, not the solution. This is a group, along with other
movers and shakers in the public nude movement, which has entered more
than one court fight on the side of strip club owners who are being
threatened with closure by local governments. In short, if it's nude and
lewd, they love it and will fight for it.
So-called naturist organizations are even known to
fight laws against child pornography! The Naturist Action Committee is a
group vigorously defending Wisconsin's illegal, tax-funded nude beach on
the Wisconsin River near Mazomanie. The beach is run by the state
Department of Natural Resources (DNR). In 1999, NAC successfully lobbied
against and killed a Nebraska legislative initiative titled "Child
Pornography Prevention Act." Although the bill, which was introduced
to deal with the sale of child porn, would have targeted an individual for
prosecution only if he had five or more nude pictures of children, NAC
fought it tooth and nail. On March 3, 1999, NAC Chairman Bob Morton, whom
I have debated, testified against the bill. An NAC report on the
proceeding titled "Success Story" states that Morton introduced
himself as "a parent of three children whose nude pictures
actually have appeared in nudist and naturist publications." In
the end, the bill was killed to the great relief of deviants everywhere,
including those who pimp their own children and wives in pursuit of their
own perverted pleasure. It's a "I'll let you look at mine if I can
look at yours" sort of thing.
Nude beaches are magnets for pedophiles. An associate
of WCU for a time maintained a ministry web page containing news about the
Mazo nude beach. On his site, he spoke against the exploitation of
children by adults who take them to the beach and parade them nude. As an
experiment, he tracked what words people had used in search engines which
caused them to end up on his Mazo Beach web site. Time after time, the
same words were used: "nude+children+beach." In other words,
perverts searching for some place to mingle with nude children are looking
for nude beaches. In fact, DNR records document one known pedophile
visiting Mazo Beach. One can only wonder how many "undocumented"
pedophiles have made the scenic trip to Mazo and how many children have
ended up in child porn - or worse.
In ministry events on the Mazo Beach parking lot, WCU
has often witnessed adults with cameras taking children to the beach. (See
below.) Just this past week, a woman with two small girls was turned back
by WCU from taking them to the beach. For their part, DNR wardens on the
scene were prepared to escort the little girls to that grave danger as
they have in the past. WCU possesses evidence which proves that the nudity
at Mazo Beach has drawn in dangerous, perverted individuals from across
the nation. We also have evidence that prostitutes are soliciting at the
beach; and already in the early 1990's, Gallery, a pornographic
magazine, listed Mazo in its guide to nude beaches - this according to the
Madison, Wisconsin newspaper the Capital Times. Homosexual groups
have advertised the beach as the place to go for "sex in the
bushes," and DNR documents reflect the success of that PR campaign as
well.
How long will the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources continue to allow public nudity on one of the most beautiful
beaches in our state? How long will they allow children to be taken there
to be paraded nude in front of hundreds of nude adults from across the
nation? WCU will continue to keep the heat on the DNR with more
demonstrations on the beach parking lot and the mile-long walk way leading
to the beach. And when the obvious is finally irrefutably documented, that
being that children are being sexually exploited in various ways because
of the DNR's determination to run a strip joint for all ages, we will do
everything in our power to hold the appropriate state officials
accountable. Sometime in the future, when a child of Mazo Beach has grown
up and wants to file a lawsuit against DNR officials for contributing to
the horror of his or her abuse, we will be glad to supply an attorney.
Meanwhile, we will pray that it does not take a
kidnapped or dead child, either from Mazo Beach or the immediate area, to
get the DNR to close down their tax-funded, open-air adult entertainment
center on the Wisconsin River.
