Today, November 27 from 4:00 to 5:15 PM, Wisconsin
Christians United will picket the home of Ruthe Badger (3206 Heatherdell
Lane, Madison). In her capacity as the Department of Natural Resources
South Central Region Director, Badger directly oversees the operation of
the DNR's nude beach near Mazomanie, Wisconsin. Rather than act to protect
the children who are being exposed to nudity and exposed nude to the
voyeurs, exhibitionists, and sexually perverted persons who frequent Mazo
nude beach, Ruthe Badger has defended the nudists and looked for ways to
harass and hamstring the Christians with WCU who have conducted protests
and ministry events on the Mazo beach parking lot. Besides the picket at
Badger's home, WCU will distribute a flyer door-to-door in her
neighborhood. The flyer is titled "Is One of Your Neighbors an
Accessory to Child Abuse?" In addition to exposing Ruthe Badger's
complicity in the DNR's corrupt scheme to protect public nudity on the
Mazo beach, it will contain the pictures of twelve different children of
varying ages being taken to the beach. The twelve are a small percentage
of the children who have been taken to the beach to be paraded naked in
the presence of hundreds of nude adults, some of whom carry cameras and
some of whom have been arrested for sexual crimes at the beach, as
evidenced by WCU Freedom of Information searches. Today's picket is the
second in a series of pickets which will take place in the neighborhoods
of DNR officials.
"Today we take our defense of children
and Biblical morality to Ruthe Badger's doorstep. Rather than speak
against the perversion of Mazo beach and on behalf of the helpless
children taken there, Ruthe has cultivated a warm relationship with the
nudists and has spoken in the most disparaging terms against concerned
Christians who show love for the children of Mazo."
Pastor Ralph Ovadal, Director, Wisconsin Christians
United
"I recognize you and your group's
resolve to try to dissuade users of the beach from going there. . . . I
assure you that we are more resolved to ensure that one group of people
does not infringe on the rights of another group. . . . The beach at
Mazomanie has been used by people very peacefully for clothing optional
uses . . ."
Ruthe Badger in a June 22, 2001 e-mail to Pastor Ralph Ovadal
"I'll assume that you're not
interested in attempting to enact a DNR property rule which bans nudity. .
. . The DA has publicly stated that if we have a ban on nudity, they would
enforce it."
DNR attorney Michael Lutz in a June 25, 2001 e-mail to
Ruthe Badger - obtained by a WCU Freedom of Information search
