The city of Monroe held its
Cheese Days celebration September 17-19. Believe it or not, this year, we
are told 150,000 people visited our town of 10,000 during this event,
which includes the longest parade in Wisconsin. Our church, Pilgrims
Covenant, took advantage of the occasion by conducting street evangelism
on the weekend nights of Cheese Days as well as at the parade on Sunday
afternoon. Most of the activities of this biennial event take place on
Monroe's square, which is closed to vehicular traffic for that purpose but
increasingly packed with people with a peak density on Sunday afternoon
following the parade. We spent many hours standing on different corners of
the square preaching, holding gospel banners, handing out gospel tracts,
and witnessing one-on-one. Some of our number made regular swings through
the crowd, handing out tracts. All in all, by the grace of God, we shared
the gospel with tens of thousands of people. |
