PILGRIMS
COVENANT CHURCH
Annual
Spring Conference
SATURDAY,
MARCH 27, 2010
Featured
Speaker: Pastor Pooyan
Mehrshahi,
Providence
Baptist Chapel,
Cheltenham, England. Pastor Mehrshahi was born
in
Tehran,
Iran, in 1980—one year after the Iranian
Islamic Revolution and the year
Iraq
invaded
Iran, triggering a vicious eight-year-long war.
Pastor Mehrshahi was raised in the Zoroastrian religion, with his family
following the ceremonies and pilgrimages of that religion. Growing up, he
attended both Zoroastrian and Muslim schools where he was made to
memorize, in the first, the Zoroastrian sacred book of Avesta and, in the
second, the Quran. When Pastor Mehrshahi was a teenager, his family moved
to the
United Kingdom
where he eventually met some Christians who
witnessed to him and gave him a Bible. In the course of time, through the
study of the Scriptures, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and through the
sovereign grace of God, Pastor Mehrshahi came to a saving knowledge of
Jesus Christ. In 2003, he enrolled in the
Whitefield
College
of the Bible, and in 2007, he received the
call to the pastorate of Providence Baptist Chapel. In addition to his
pastoral duties, he is busy ministering to Farsi-speaking Iranians in
England
and also open-air gospel preaching. Pastor
Mehrshahi has been working with the Trinitarian Bible Society on a Farsi
translation of the New Testament and is active in a gospel ministry to the
nations of
Iran
and
Afghanistan. Pastor Mehrshahi's messages will
include:
"Daniel
in
Babylon—My Life in
Iran"
"Daniel, a Servant of God—The Ministry to God's People"
