Once it was unlawful to do it. Now it
is illegal to talk against it.
Report for January 9,
2004
In the article below, note that each time the
word homophobic is used, it is attached to the word crime.
Isn't homophobic a nice, subjective, flexible word? Why, its uses are
almost endless in the sodomites' relentless crusade to stamp out all
resistance to their perverted agenda. Now if only Christians could bring
themselves to say objective, biblical words such as abomination and
repent when speaking of sodomy. Jesus Christ poured out His blood
so that even those who commit such sins can be "washed . . .
sanctified . . . justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit
of our God" (I Corinthians 6:9-11) if they will "repent . . .
believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15) and "call on the name of the
Lord" (Acts 2:21). How does our Lord look upon Christians who
belittle what He did by down-playing the sinfulness of the sin for which
He died to provide the propitiation (1 John 2:2)?
Gay officers should come out, urges senior police chief
Gay.com UK, December 29, 2003
One of Scotland's senior policemen is urging gay police officers to come
out at work, as he believes it would help the force deal with homophobic
crimes more effectively.
David Lyle, the Lothian and Borders chief inspector, says that openly gay
policemen and women would also help raise the self esteem of closeted
colleagues, as well as help make the country's police force appear more
modern.
"We want to be able to show that being gay and being a police officer
are just part and parcel of every day life and of society," he says.
"And we hope by that to encourage people who may suffer hate crimes
or crimes to do with homophobic reasons to come forward."
Lyle was speaking as the Scottish coordinator of the Gay Police
Association (GPA), the organisation that provides a network for the
country's lesbian and gay police workers.
His comments come after a watershed year in acceptance for gay police
officers, which culminated in officers being allowed to march in their
uniform at this year's Pride festival for the first time.
As well as tackling acceptance within the police force, the GPA has also
looked into how homophobic hate crimes are handled as well as encouraging
victims, who are often nervous of the police reaction to their sexuality,
to come forward.
Next month the body will hold a meeting in the Scottish Police College to
discuss the way in which gay issues are being handled.
